Homophobic threats against Eurovision song contest

Belgrade, Serbia: the 53th edition of the Eurovision song contest that will be held in Belgrade is threatened by some fascist groups from Serbia. They will threat with violence and try to attack people who want to come to the song festival.

The fascist groups have mainly problems with gays, which became clear from the declarations of the president of the fascist organization Obraz who announced the attacks. The organization calls the song festival a gay day.

The threats make many worried and there are questions like: Is Belgrade, however, the place to organize a Eurovision Song contest? According to several Serbian media, thousands of gays of will come to Belgrade. Serbia is not a member of the EU and is one of the most homophobic countries in Europe.

From a report of the European Commission of previous year it becomes clear that there is much discrimination and homophobic in the country. There are regularly attacks against gays and other minorities.
